"TRUE IMPULSE" recording set-up
Unsurprisingly this ended up very similar to his set-up for "THE BATTLE OF LOVE." Cymbals don't appear to have changed since THE BATTLE OF LOVE either. However, he has gone back to Paiste for his Chinese cymbals, and is using a 20" 2002 Novo China. Drums:
Snare drum: 14"x6.5" Pearl Aluminum Free-Floating
Toms: Pearl Acrylic 14"x8", 16"x16", 18"x16"
Bass drum: Pearl Acrylic 24"x16"
Nothing changed here.
Snare drum: Remo Coated Ambassador (top), Remo Ambassador Snare Side (bottom)
Toms: Remo Clear Ambassador (top), Remo Clear Ambassador (bottom)
Bass drum: Remo Pinstripe (batter), Pearl stock reso head (resonant)
I am not 100% sure on the tom heads, but everything else looks about right.
15" Paiste mystery Sound Edge Hi-Hats
15" Paiste 2002 Sound Edge Hi-Hats
22" Paiste Formula 602 Ride
18", 17", 16" Paiste Formula 602 Crashes
20" Paiste 2002 Novo Chinese
Again, we can see very clearly there's a set of 15" 2002 sound edges on his right, but what of the main set? The coloring of the cymbals differs highly from the Formula 602s, leading me to believe they're a different alloy. I know they're not Signatures. So... are they really just another set of 2002s? Also, he's using a Paiste chinese in the studio again!
The following pictures are probably the best pictures of Sakura's set in the studio I've ever seen. They were posted by Sakura himself on his Facebook.
